Jacques Brel Primary and Elementary School
Courcouronnes - France

Date: 2012
Client: Ville de Courcouronnes
Net area: 3100 m² SHON
Cost: 2.4 M€ HT
Mission: design, construction supervision
Situated in the southern Paris suburbs, the rehabilitation and extension of the Jacques Brel Primary and Elementary schools, built in 1983. Demolition of an existing residence building and cafeteria to the west of the complex, coupled with the addition of three additional classrooms on the upper floor and new administrative spaces on the lower floor, allowed for the rearticulation of a shared entry hall and facade that would for the first time unite the two schools spatially. A continuous insulated exterior brick skin «wraps» both the existing concrete facades and the new two storey extension to the west. Sustainability guidelines were respected.
